PINBALL & INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT PROJECTS

SOUND DESIGN

Stern Jurassic Park “Movie Code” A/V Mod

Created a commonly used “movie code” A/V mod incorporating original Jurassic Park (1993) film dialog, soundtrack music, and video clips. Edited and organized thousands of dialog lines and hundreds of clips, making replacement decisions based on gameplay context, timing, tone, and community feedback.

VIDEO PRODUCTION (INSTRUCTIONAL)

Installing Sculpted T-Rex Mod

Contracted by The Art of Pinball to create an installation video for their Sculpted T-Rex mod for Stern’s Jurassic Park pinball machine. Recorded the full installation process, organized the steps into a clear instructional sequence, and produced the complete video with graphics, animation, transitions, and editing. The backing music is an instrumental version of my original song “Jurassick Dark,” which I also placed and mixed into the video.

Role: Video producer, editor, instructional content creator, music producer
Work included: Step-by-step filming, visual callouts, graphics, animation, transitions, sequencing, original instrumental music placement, and final video production
Demonstrates: Technical communication, product documentation, visual editing, audio/music integration, and support-focused content for an enthusiast hardware product

*Two-minute sample clip included for portfolio context. Full video rights owned by The Art of Pinball.

THE BIG LEBOWSKI

Soundtrack Music Mod

Co-authored a music script mod for The Big Lebowski pinball machine, incorporating original soundtrack clips into gameplay. Worked with the lead programmer on music placement, gameplay feedback, bug reproduction, QA testing, and final release polish.

POST PRODUCTION

SOUND DESIGN FOR ANIMATION

THE LITTLE FELLA

An animated short entitled, “The Little Fella.” It involves a small chihuahua in a sterile environment, remaining in a relatively stationary position. He performs many different actions (such as scratching himself, making quaint vocalizations, shaking his head around, smiling, etc.). His movements have an innate rhythmic quality. In order to achieve proper sequencing, I used Pro Tools as both a MIDI sequencer and a DAE interface to lock each sound to a specific tempo. Propellerheads Reason instruments were used in conjunction with Pro Tools as a ReWire Instrument to create the underlying drum beat as well as trigger samples of recorded sound effects using a MIDI synchronization between the two programs.

Role: Sound designer, editor, audio implementer
Tools: Pro Tools, Reason, ReWire, MIDI sequencing
Demonstrates: Timing sound to animation, rhythmic sync, sample triggering, creative sound design

SOUND REPLACEMENT FOR FILM

TREMORS

A full sound replacement for a scene from the movie, “Tremors” (1990). 95% of the SFX are from my original field recordings. I collected a range from basic human movement, (footsteps, the use of metal tools), to mechanic, (the sound of a seismograph, a pickup truck), to ambient, (desert wind, birds), to unnatural, (the movement and vocalizations of the ‘Tremor’). The vocalizations and underground movement of the ‘Tremor’ were created via a combination of altered lion roars, rolling thunder, synth tones, and human screams.

Role: Sound designer, field recordist, editor, mixer
Tools: Pro Tools, field recordings, processed animal/human/synth source material
Demonstrates: Full sound replacement, original SFX creation, atmosphere, creature vocal design, sound-to-picture storytelling

MULTITRACK RECORDING / MUSIC PRODUCTION

WHISKEY TANGO

Full-Band Studio Recording Project

Recorded, mixed, and mastered as a full-band studio production project. I handled the recording setup, microphone placement, signal flow, session management, editing, mixing, and final master, balancing live performance energy with a polished final mix. The project demonstrates multitrack recording, studio workflow, audio troubleshooting, mix decisions, and technical production from tracking through delivery.

Role: Recording engineer, mix engineer, mastering engineer
Tools: Pro Tools, multitrack studio recording, microphones, outboard preamps/processors
Demonstrates: Session setup, multitrack recording, editing, mixing, mastering, signal flow, band production

VOICEOVER / RADIO PRODUCTION

SKYDIVE SPACELAND (RADIO AD)

A voice over advertisement for a radio broadcast, based upon the script of an existing radio advertisement for Skydive Spaceland–a company specializing in skydiving instruction. The voice over contains the recorded voice of three actors, as well as, background music and sound effects. As a result, two versions were created – a sixty-second (:60)  and a thirty-second (:30) version. Vocal talent was captured via a Shure KSM44 condenser microphone for the male voices and a Shure SM7 dynamic microphone for the female voice.  Both microphones were routed through a DigiDesign 001 microphone preamplifier, using a Pro Tools LE System.

Voice Talent:
Main Narrator – Chaz Roberts
Skydiving Instructor – Paul Greiwe
Female Skydiver – Toni Salisbury

Role: Voiceover recording engineer, audio editor, producer
Work included: Recorded voice talent, edited dialog takes, timed the read to one-minute and 30-second formats, placed music and sound effects, balanced the mix, and prepared final radio-ad versions
Demonstrates: Voice recording, dialog editing, timing to strict duration, music/SFX integration, mix clarity, and broadcast-style production workflow
